I want to hear about it.

I've been talking to my GC about it and they haven't received one in and can't confirm if they'll have it as a regular in-store item. So I won't be able to try this one out unless I happen upon another store that has them in stock (I'm looking...). Looks like the only way I might get my hand on one of these things is to blindly buy one, which I'm not too keen on.

So, anyone here had some time with it? What are the opinions? I want to hear the good, the bad, and hopefully not much ugly.

Yeah, that's why I asked, I just heard that they're already available in some areas. I'm just sad that I might not get the chance to try one first hand. At least not without putting some money upfront for it first.

I know not to expect the same tone as the head, but I'd like to know what it's capable of. The spec sheet itself sounds pretty impressive, but that doesn't always mean the amp itself will be good.

The man from GearWire has tried it out, we shall christen him FaceFungusMan.

Although, judging by the quality of sound he managed to put out, I think we'd all be better off with a little less Peavey Windsor Studio in our lives.

But any demos that he does aren't valid in the world of tone anyways!

True, but I have a mind to point prospective Valveking buyers to his 'Review' of the amp.

'And uh, er, um, this is the gain, let me turn it all the way up here..'

FIZZABALOOSHEOOOOCRUSSHHHH.

An accurate representation of the amp, eh?

What sort of voicing does it have? Vintage, I assume?

^ I heard that's how it's supposed to be. A little more vintagey/classic than the head.

I admittedly dislike Gearwire equipment reviews... I just don't bother with them anymore really.

So no one else had a chance to try this one out yet?

I just got back from NAMM, & tried a Windsor Studio at the Peavey pavilion. I hope to God that it had a tube going bad or some other defect, because I played around with dozens of settings on it for 20 min, & all of it sounded like pure crap. As I turned it up, it just sounded like very loud crap. I really had some high hopes for this amp after hearing all the hype. Just about everything else Peavey had in their sound room (which housed 2 dozen amps) sounded decent (no 5150 IIIs, though ), but that particular Windsor Studio was awful. I mentioned this to the Peavey guys, & they didn't really give a rat's ass. They just encouraged me to try their other amps. They had no other Studios to try, either. They have every major music store & dealer in the ENTIRE WORLD coming to check out their stuff, & they showcase this piece of sh!t. (Maybe "showcase" isn't the right word. They had the Studio tucked away down below a pile of other amp models. I couldn't even find it at first!).
No wonder the release date keeps getting pushed back. I hope they get it together before they release this thing to the public. But again, hopefully it was something wrong with the amp, because if there wasn't, they will never sell any.

^ i thought the 5150 III was a Fender make?

And that sucks if the Windsor is crap. Class-A 15 watt all-tube for $500...

That would explain why Peavey didn't have any! I don't follow who has bought rights to what & all that crap. I just thought 5150 was a Peavey registered trademark. Maybe Fender bought Peavey, or Peavey bought Fender. I don't know, but if you're right, then it all adds up. I never asked the Peavey guys about the 5150 IIIs. I just figured they didn't want a bunch of people blasting the ass out of one!!

The whole point about the Studio was to have a nice amp to practice with in the bedroom, without blowing my eardrums out into the street.

Well, I hope it was a blown tube or something because I really had high hopes for this one as well.

You said it got pushed back, do you have any dates?

riffhog, 5150 goes with EVH. that's why they renamed the 5150 the 6505 when EVH left the peavey company.

Aha! Now it makes sense. Thanks.
BTW-The Peavey guys at NAMM had no release date for the Windsor Studio. Sorry...
