i think this is the right forum for this, if not, just tell me where to go and delete this......
so, i want to get a new guitar and i've been looking at the Gibson explorer, i noticed the price, but then found out that you can get an Epiphone explorer for a lot less. the epiphone one looks the same as the gibson, so i want to know is the gibson worth the extra money, or should i go with the epiphone

and i don't want to hear how much anyone hates explorers, i just want some advice on the above question!!!it would be much appreciated.

my first bit of advice would be to travel to the nearest guitar shop and try both of them out. If you think they feel/sound the same then the only factor would be price (epi muuuuuuch cheaper) while you're at the store try out some other stuff as well. Dean makes a really nice explorer style guitar called the z, and then there is also the jackson kelly. The most important thing when buying a guitar is to play it first.

thanks, my main concern is the price, and i don't want to get ripped off.

Well, you might wanna try some other brands as well if you are concerned about the price, LTD 400 Series explorers are amazing the price.
But I like the epi, I would just mod it with my own specs with locking tuners and new p'ups,

if you really like the explorer look, but hate the explorer price I would take a look at the entry level dean z's, they range from 200 all the way up into the thousands, but good luck finding one in stores. all I can ever find at guitar center are razorbacks and mls.

Agreed. An old bandmate of mine just put two TV Jones Classic Plus pickups in his Epiphone Korina 1958 Explorer, and I'm blown away by the sound and look (the gold looks delicious on there).

Also, try them out.
Sincerely, Chad.
