ok, so ive been playing for 3 years this summer.

i know my scales (major, modes, 3 minors, 3 blues, spanish gypsy), and chords.. and am a music major in college, so im bein taught theory.

as of now i play blues/folk/classic rock (think beatles, the dead, floyd, ect) ehhh and grunge (power chords)

but i kinda want to get into shred..

1) to boost my speed all around 2) it just sounds rockin!

i figure if i get into shredding i can toss it in with my blues/folk and ... i dunno, rock it out.

so where should i start?
are there different types of shred?

consider me full n00b

any certain songs that may be good starters?

im not actually wanting to start listening to shred.. just learn how to shred and have a few songs/exercises under my belt..

not becoming a metal head or anything. i just want the technique
