I'm extremely glad it looks better than last year's model.

I was thinking about purchasing one, being a big fan of SOAD and all...but I was wondering...

What exactly are the DiMarzio D Activator pickups? Are they active pickups like EMGs? Do they have a good tone?

They're not active, but they're made to be as close as possible in terms of performance. I believe the Xiphos has them. And I think even the new Iceman looks great, I own the IC400, and they finally decided to have 24 frets on the 700.

EDIT: The Iceman is good for music WAY better than SOAD.

SOAD's not where I'm setting the limit to my playing abilities, don't worry. It's just Daron is one of the main guitarists who got me playing.
