Pink Floyd- Money, Nirvana- In Bloom, Gorillaz- Feel Good Inc, Queen- Another one Bites The Dust, (similarly...) Sugarhill Gang- Rapper's Delight, The Pixies- Gouge Away, (i saw your Kurt quote so i'll list some good Nirvana ones now) Teen Spirit of course....Lounge Act which sounds complicated but really isn't that awful...maybe Frances Farmer.

A little more modern(ish)- Smashing Pumpkins- Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Bloc Party- Positive Tension, and The Arctic Monkeys- When The Sun Goes Down, which is one of my favorite bass riffs of all time, and definetly one worth learning.

Hopefully that gave you some great suggestions! Those are the ones that i always used when teaching myself how to play.
