Well those are damn big chips, so a simple touch up is out of the question. Your looking at a total refinish of your guitar for a flawless repair. Is there maybe a local luthier around that would help you? Of course you could always do it yourself.....

I don't know what you'd have to do to repair it, but I reccomend you get some strap-loks. Trust me, they're life savers!

Man, those bigass chips give the guitar character. Leave 'em. There's a lot of work involved to repair it.

Ok, well you guys might say it gives character, but it just looks like **** on a brand new guitar. I think if threadstarter wanted to leave them, he would have asked "hey guys how can I make my guitar look broken-er?". I may be wrong, but I think he's looking to us for how to FIX it.

If that is your issue, then you have 2 choices. you can [1] Do it yourself [2] get a professional to do it for you.

While the latter is expensive, the former may not look so good. It's up to you, evaluate weather or not you're good enough to do it yourself, or have enough money to get it done.

Once you've decided that, let us know and we can help you even more!

yeah leave it. It's good to be attached to a guitar but obsessive isn't. As long as the dents around the Trem don't effect anything leave it.

As said above, God's way of saying get Strap Locks. That said to get it repaired, it will take some work, and likely need a total refinish so the color will match.

EDIT: for the guy who asked about the trem chips, looks like the trem moved in place and the posts smacked the wood, I would get it checked it out.

I don't think it's really worth it to refinish your guitar for a couple (large) chips, but hey, it's up to you.

word of advice when sanding becuase i sanded an s470 down, dont go all the way down to the wood, leave some on so you wont have to prime it again, i sanded all mine down, and left it for ages and the wood now has a few cracks init.

Agreed.

It might look ugly but you just gave your guitar character as opposed to the hundreds of similar guitars. The ONLY thing I'd really worry about is the chips by the trem. It might lead to something worse but that all depends.

It really hurt when I put the first big dent in my acoustic. A buddy said "Now it's got character". Eventually you just accept it for what it is.
I do recommend getting the body inspected. I hope you don't have a piece of firewood.
#26
I say leave it, but not because it looks "tricked out." It's pretty costly to refinish a guitar, especially for a few dings like this. I'd just wait until it becomes utterly necessary (trust me, your guitar will get a few more bumps along the road). That being said, remember that if you have it refinished, it will be a while before you get it back.

Also, strap locks.
Sincerely, Chad.

^exactly, stuff like this happens, and if you spend £250 getting it re-finished by a pro it might look good but but you'll just damage it again. Are you gonna spend another £250 every time it gets a nick in it? Bit of a waste of money if you ask me. If you ask the custom car shop they'll tell you that the only cars they ever do are really old cars with flat and blistering paint and people who want crazy custom colours. Not people who've got one little dent. Best check out that trem tho.

For dents like that, It would be easier to go for a full refinish then a repair. Unless the store you take it to frequently uses that color and doens't have to custom order it (which I doubt will happen). It will cost a hefty amount of money.

For chips that big there's really not much you can say, unless a flawless guitar is an absolute must, tehn I suggest you take it to a professional guitar refinishing store, not an auto shop.

if you havent done any laquer finishes before i wouldnt recommend trying to start now
buut
what i think would look just cherry is if u sanded it back to natural (its mahogany rite?) and slap some oil on it
much easier and cheaper and natural gutiars just look so unique next to all these crappy starts u see
my opinion
either way good luck

Well that may not work if there are two or three different shades of wood involved. But then again it might look cool.
