it will cost 250 and it might still not work... if it doesnt work then 850 will definitely work... it was 1000 new last june... fix it or save up for a new one?

Yeah? So take it to the repairs and let them see if it works with the 250$ investment. If it doesn't, they can't charge you for nothing. Then contemplate about getting a new laptop.

Take it to another shop. A new motherboard AND processor (if thats fried as well) shouldn't cost more than $300-$500 and takes no more than an hour to install. Thats definitely a rip off.
