Use lemon oil, as long as its not made of maple.

I've read that warm, soapy water is ok to use, but personally I'd just stick with a damp cloth.

Use lemon oil, it works. I used it on my guitar that has been having issues with the 4th fret, I just put it all around. Now it smells great and plays better (getting a telecaster soon, this acoustic is like 30 years old)

If youre referring to things like furniture polishes etc when you say 'around the house' I wouldnt recommend using anything of that nature. Wait and buy a fretboard conditioning oil and a microfibre cloth from a music store.
