I am looking for a new amp. Right now I have a Peavy JSX 212 combo, which is friggen huge and I bring it to gigs. Other then that I have a small 15-watt crap box right now I am thinking of something along the lines of a Line 6 Spider III, maybe the 75w model. I don't want anything too big, but at the same time need it bigger then the small stuff and loud enough for my room and such, as I will be bringing it around places alot. I play mostly thrash metal like trivium and such, and want something that can give me a good sound.

I know the Line 6 has all the presets and such, but are there any other amps along that size that wouldn't disappoint me? I know the new Spider III's have the footswitches with the built in wah and volume control, so that is pretty much a bonus. Budget is not a problem, I just need to find the right amp.

What's you opinion on a practice amp for attaining a good metal sound? I know the Line 6 isn't the greatest according to some, but it looks pretty sweet and I've played the older Spider III.

No No no!!!!!!!

The Spider Valve is one of the worst amps I've ever played!!!!

I was at Tom Lee's, trying out a Razorback V, when all of a sudden I plugged in to a Spider Valve....and....ALL I HEARD WAS CRAP.

It actually sounded like something was dying , I mean an MG sounded better!
The effects were useless, the distortion sounded like crap, and I couldn't EQ it to save my life!!
