Hey UGers. Lately, I've been trying to break my habit of practicing my bass while sitting down, but when I play standing up my strap cuts off the circulation in my left arm after a while and it begins to lose feeling and cramp. If anyone out there have some advice I can use to keep this from happening it would be greatly greatly appreciated.

you don't know how to wear a strap right

Any tips on the "right" way to wear a strap then?

You may just need a new strap. If you're using a nylon one, maybe switch to leather.

So that it isn't uncomfortable. Move it around a bit, and make sure there aren't any twists in it.

Yeah, the one I have right now is nylon, so maybe it's just too hard. I'll try switching to a leather one and see if that helps out.

Get a strap that runs across your back. If a strap is cutting off circulation from your arm, that's not good considering you need arms to play the guitar.

that helps him a lot.

Try a different fabric strap. If youre using nylon now, try leather. I don't use anything but Levy's straps, theyre incredible. But thats my own preference
