I just acquired a Harmony Archtop and I am trying to find out the year of it. all the headstock says is Harmony and made in the USA and steel reinforced neck. ill get some pictures up in a little while. The previous owner thinks it is from the late 50's.

From http://members.aol.com/Rothguitar/Rothguita30.html#Archtops :
Dating them seems to be a little more complicated. Some guitars seem to have an F-66, FW-59 or similar number stamped inside the guitar, along with "Made in the USA." This number will indicate the year of manufacture, but it doesn't appear all the time. The F indicated the Fall manufacturing run for the Xmas season. The S indicated that they were being made for the Summer run of instruments. It confirmed the dating of some guitars I have, with what I surmised to be their date of production.
Sincerely, Chad.

I've worked on a few before, and I've had the worst time trying to find any info on these guitars.

Methinks it's because they were made in such an immensely large quantity and then suddenly died out as flat-tops became popular for the folk revival.

50s to 60s is a good bet, as there were a ton of them out there. Harmony also had a model that was called Silvertone - I think that one was sold by Sears. Kay made an almost identical guitar in the same timeframe.

How about you give us more information? Serial number, any writing on/in it at all, or even some pictures would help.
Sincerely, Chad.
