Ok, so I've picked out two guitars but I don't know which one to get. I'd really appreciate it if you guys would tell me the difference between the two guitars (like the neck size, pickup sound/style, sustain, etc)

The guitars are:

ESP Alexi-600
Jackson RR24

They're near identical in specs, just that the Alexi has a extra cutaway and a passive PU while the jackson has an active.

i say go with Alexi just because i'm not a fan of emg's and I really like Duncan's
#3
I'd go for the jackson just coz it looks far cooler, coz sound wise they won't be too much different, and feel wise they'll be pretty identicle, and they're both pretty expensive, but the paint job is much nicer on the jackson imo

I don't care too much about the brand name or how it looks (though they both look killer). I'm more interested in how comfortable they are and how the necks feel

I would go with the ESP. The EMG 81 sounds pretty gritty on clean, while they Blackouts sound good both distorted and clean. Not to mention that the RR has a LFR while the Laiho has a OFR.

the alexi has an active too its a seymour duncan black out the cutaway is for getting to the higher frets easier.. the alexi has a original floyd rose and the jackson just says floyd rose.. the blackout pickup from what ive heard sounds a little bit cleaner than the emg not sure about neck sizes
Current Setup

Schecter Blackjack C7
Epiphone Les Paul Custom w/ EMG 81/85
Peavey 5150II Head
Peavey 6505 Cab w/ two Eminence Texas Heat
Epi PR5-e
Hot Rod Deluxe

Musician's friend is actually wrong about that. The Alexi has a EMG-HZ. I'll post a better link now

Thats all personal preference, you'll have to play the guitars to find which one if more comfortable to you.

Then go with the RR HZ's are ****.
EDIT: I also recommend the Dean V225 and the Gibson V w/ EMGs. That is if you can go w/ something else.

Are they **** because they can't do clean? or because they have a low output? Because I don't play clean on my electric so I couldn't care less about how it sounds on clean.

It sounds awful on both. More sterile then the actives and as no kick what soever.

K, I'll keep that in mind. Also, do you know how the Jackson necks feel? I've only played the Soloists/dinkys and I was wondering if the RR24 neck was similar.

mmm if it was me i'd be getting the jackson, just not in white
lol sorry i know that doesnt really answer your question, also you could just swap the neck pickup if you needed to for a cleaner sound

but theres a couple of other models

another randy rhoads one

24 frets. A trem. I need it.

I have played both guitars , and I would pick the alexi simply because I prefer the shape and paintjob of it. The extra cutaway was very useful as well. The RR24 is really nice too, though- The Workmanship is very good on both. The neck profile is the same on both, both are neck through (so sustain would be pretty much identical) and Both are made in asia. The alexi could have an emg 81 installed and still be a bit cheaper then the rr24. The only real deciding factors are what you think looks/feels better.

Thanks. I've played the Alexi but haven't even seen the RR24 IRL. So I guess I'll get the alexi and switch the pick-ups to DiMarzio Activators (I like passive pickups ) or 81s.

ah ok, sorry about that then
but congrats on the new guitar in advance

Nothing to apologize about. Had they stopped making the Alexi AND the RR24, the Kevin Bond signature would have been my next guitar.

Are you sure they are wrong about the Blackout being in there? Because it would make sense. Maybe ESP released an updated version with the Blackout and some stores just haven't updated the site accordingly yet? I really hope that's true, because that would make the Alexi guitars actually worth considering.

It was pretty similar. Flat and almost square. Plays pretty fast.

Okay, to make things clear: Alexi switched to SD Blackouts in replacement of his EMG HZ's a few months ago and the new 2008 models of the Alexi signature guitar all have Blackouts in them. The older ones still have HZ's in them. And the Jackson has an original floyd rose. It isn't licensed.

I would go for the Jackson because it looks way better, is more original, isnt a signature guitar...and the neck is freakin awesome.

I think most of you are saying the Alexi is better just because it has a Blackout in it. It's foolish to go with that reason because most of you havent even heard them compared directly to EMG's. so I'd say jackson.
