I have been using BT Broadband for the past two years, and I have only just realised how much they are raping me of my money for a terrible service considering where i live.

I live less than two miles away from my exchange, yet I am receiving just less than 1mbps when I should be receiving two.

I thought, ah well that's not so bad, until I found out my friend who lives 0.3km closer to the exchange than i do has an average speed of over 20mbps!!!! To make it even worse he pays less than me yet has a superior service.

He uses Be* Broadband.

tl;dr Does Be* Broadband have a catch?

I've just swapped from Orange to BE. Absolutly brilliant. It never goes down, never gives less than 6MB speed (even on peak) and we pay for 8MB. I couldn't recommend it more.

I just did the test and got 1.9mb for a 2mb connection. Virgin Media.

Just try it again, make sure you aren't downloading anything or have too many browsers open.

you all complaining about broadband. Aussies get jipped big time when it comes to internet. We pay $160 a month for 8000kb's connection with an 80gb cap limit. How much are you paying for your internet?

Note that 8000kb's means i get less than 200kb's download if i DL from an australian site. Normaly its anywhere from 40kb's to 80kb's. you guys are lucky..

Yeah for a 2meg connection, I got 2018k.

If Richard Branson owns it, service will be best you can get.

I hate this "I alwayz need moar" attitude about internet speed. I used to have it when I had 128k ISBN but that was understandable - it was a strange technology and the fact it lay somewhere between dial-up and broadband was frustrating.

I currently have 2MB (free upgrade from 1MB) wireless with BT and I have honestly had no problems with it at all. It's damn quick. If my internet does do that cutting out thing, which is rare, I just turn off my box and let it cool down.

If it ain't broke...

How much does BE cost per month?

My parents won't swop since we don't need to pay for the broadband since my dad works for BT.

Swapping is a hassle, anyway...

Get cable man - I can literally see the goddamn exchange from my house but I was on a 4 mile loop. That's how broadband works.

Cable, though, is different. I get a solid 17Mb/s, which I'm sort of ok with, haha.

I do detest Virgin though; I hate giving that jackass money. But oh well - gotta use the best.
My name is Marc! Silly username.

I've just switched to be, and I'm not aware of any catch. I get 16mbps connection for £18, a decent router for my £24 connection fee. And its an indefinite contract - so i can cancel it whenever I want if I give three months notice.

Swapping ain't a hassle - get a MAC code from BT. The isps sort the switch out themselves and the connection is usually only down for about 2 hours.
Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name.

Australian internet sucks. The government should have installed 100 mbit connections years ago. The cables are up to standard they have no excuses, Its total bull****

I've just switched to Sky Broadband, I get 8meg speed for £5 with 40gb download cap.
Alternatively I could have gotten 2meg speed with 2gb download cap for free. This only applies if you have Sky TV already mind, but if you do, it's well worth getting the broadband package with it.
