I have a guitar. It goes out of tune a lot (not by much. the most it does would go from D halfway to a Db), so I was wondering if it'd be sensible to purchase a string lock thing (to put on the head), even if I don't have a tremolo system.

I would just replace the tuners. A locking nut would require some routing at the end of your fretboard to make room for it.

Get locking tuners. You can't use a locking nut without fine tuners at the bridge.

Oh okay. Thanks a lot. I'm not particularly new to guitar, but I don't get too technical when it comes to that.
