alrite this is just for my personal enjoyment of having chats w/ anyone who jus feels like talkin bout their gear, braggin bout their sound, wutever...

b/c if i post a thread just saying "let's talk bout wutever gear ya feel like" i will get so many replies telling me my thread is pointless and other hostile UG replies

so if you want to jus talk bout your gear, tone you have/want, inspirations, gear you want to have one day, or even have me listen to a sample of music and get a completely unbiased opinion then just pm me alrite?

i got a couple friends on my myspace who play guitar....out of the 6 or 7, i only talk gear talk w/ 2 of em, and that's not very often....so i'd like to have more friends for just chattin bout the greatest investment on earth with!!!

I LOOOVE Gear.
I just modded my dod yjm308 to vintage grey 250 specs.
Holy mother o' crap. 500% improvement. Cost me 10 bux too.
I have gotten very close to the tone I want (sustaining, lots of harmonics, smooth, defined, and very controllable feedback).
I really want the blackheart killer ant when it comes out (If I go to NAMM, i'll get a video clip of it in action!).
And I believe my tubescreamer is the best thing ever to happen to my tone. The guy who modded it obviously knows what he's doing.

I also like pie.

Just recently got my peavey ultra working. Its the older predeccesor for the 5150. There not as expensive but I just love the sound. Its really quite warm sounding, even though it is suposedly more "crunchy" Its definently got a ton of gain too. Any idea how to tighten up the sound a bit, I'm looking for the Killswitch engage type tone.

Tubescreamer. Or similar overdrive. I like the tubescreamer better for this purpose though.

Use it on the overdrive channel.
Give the volume a boost, and add a bit of hair to the signal using the drive knob. Adjust tone knob to taste.
You're not going to be using it as a standalone distortion/OD.
Simply to increase the output into the amp and to add a sprinkle of it's own OD.

Orange is cool. I guess it really doesn't matter. It's cable. It all works the same no matter what color it is.

I should pick up some of that cable. Looks high grade. I know how to put them together too.

Give us some feedback when you get them, maybe I'll jump on the bandwagon with you.

Since I don't have my gear in my sig:
Amp-Crate Palomino V16
Guitar- Ibanez RG321MH
Pedals- ZW-44, EHX-Small Clone

I'm content with my gear. Though I wouldn't mind getting a amp that does higher gain with ease, I'm gassing for a Engl, but I know I'll end up with a used 5150.

Is buying a guitar from Warmoth worth it? like buying the body and neck and buying your own components. Because I've been looking into getting a RR styled guitar, but all the higher classed ones seem to have FR's on them or have those tacky V shaped metal pieces behind the bridge, and Warmoth seems to be a way around those. Is the quality still there from Warmoth compared to a Jackson or ESP/LTD?

Also, what pickups would you guys recommend to turn my RG321MH into a versatility machine?

^flame maple is sort of quilted maple. quilted maple i think is a more broader way of saying "either flame or birdseye" or something.

but yea. breaking ur neck is a nice excuse to buy a new one.

Yeah.
I have this strat copy at home (plan on frankenstratting it), and the neck actually has a bit of flame figuring goin on. It's weird, since the guitar itself cost 60 bucks. New. But I got it free in a deal.
