hey, lately i have been learning the harmonic minor but have been leaning it in box patterns rather than notes. is that a good way to learn it? also is the harmonic minor a good scale for writing metal riffs

but theres also many other scales you can use, dont just limit yourself to harmonic minor

any scale can be used to create any style you want, but harmonic minor is popular in metal. oh and as helpful as box patterns can be, it is still best to know the notes you're playing and learning the notes across the guitar is the best way to do this
