Thanks for all your help everyone. I have finally chosen a guitar (with all your helpful advice in consideration) and I have purchased a Fender 57 Reissue Stratocaster in 2-tone sunburst. It is an amazing guitar I tell you, no regretas. Cost about $1000 US dollars in total including a capo, hardshell Ashton case, and strap locks. Again, a brilliant guitar and I would certianly reccomend it to anyone.

nice, that's one sexy guitar, hope you like it, the only thing i'm nervous about with those types of fender's is 21 frets

Yeah my previous Ibanez has 22 frets. But it's still quite nice, and what's a fret or two there?

Yeah it is crafted in Japan, it says so where the neck meets the body. I can take a photo if you really want proof. I hoped for one made in the US, but the Japanese ones are also quite nice.

Why oh why did you not get it in Surf Green?

Excellent choice. That is number one on my list of guitars to get it. Did you purchase it in NZ?
