I personally don't think so, but to a collector, it very well may be worth six grand.

I seriously wouldn't pay 6000 for that Tele, '69 and the 70's weren't that great of years for Fender.

Interesting. It turns out that there are people on the forum who play an upright bass. I'll make a note of that.

Vintage Fenders are big $$. I've seen quite a few 50's strats sell around $30,000.

Maybe I've been watching too much Law & Order, but that serial number seems funny to me. The area around the number looks seriously rubbed down . . . like someone stamped a new one or something.

But I also believe we didn't land on the moon, so don't take my word for it.

But does anyone actually buy them?

They're doing this "vintage" ageing where they purposely prerust the tremelo, make sxratches everywhere and think they can sell it for like 10 000?

**** off fender

It's post-cbs, so it's not really that nice.

although pre-cbs fenders are preferable, the cbs didnt make things suddenly go bad or anything. generally, 60s fenders are awesome.

I wouldn't pay $6000 for any guitar, let alone a used telecaster.

In fact, unless it was a genuine custom or I simply couldn't put it down (had to have it) I really wouldn't pay more than $2000. It's just too much money.

Yes, people buy the hell out of them.

Just because the average joe can't throw out more than $5,000 for a guitar doesn't mean a Doctor, Lawyer, professional musician, lottery winner, and the dude that inherited a bunch of money can't buy one.

With that cash, I would build myself 7-8 different Teles, in all the custom Fender colors. I never saw the appeal of vintage instruments.

Basically. You would be hard pressed to find a late 50's early 60's Strat for under 25k (assuming it had all the stock parts of course)

damn... thats a freakin nice tele I want it! You know who used CBS stratocasters? oh I dont know maybe one of the most influential guitarists of all time... HENDRIX DID! My old man has a 79 CBS strat that plays like a ****ing dream and sounds so sweet. CBS was not as bad as it was made out to be...
#33
that tele could be worth 6000 but the condition isn't really perfect...i wouldn't pay more than 4000 for it...actually i prob wouldn't even buy it cus i hate teles

A 1969?

I wouldn't say it's worth $6000. Early CBS Fenders were pretty good but most post 1968 are pretty bad. The ones after 1970 are REALLY bad, crap actually.

My uncle has a '69 Tele that he's giving me when he passes, he told me it's worth about $6,000.

Or maybe it was a '68... I don't remember, it was 60 something, though.
#39
Vintage Fenders are worth a ****load. Should they be? Probably not, but they play ****ing great. Granted, I wouldn't ever pay that much for a CBS-era guitar.
