As I understand it, MIDIs are completely different from MP3s. A MIDI is not really a recording, but a set of instructions for the sound card. As such it cannot be converted.

I may be talking out of my ass, here.

you are completely right, however...

download audacity, AND the lame.dll library.
it can read midi files and with the library can convert it to an mp3.

enjoy.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

Personally, i'd buy her a can of Coke, then as she's drinking it say to her "Whats better than Coca Cola?" She'll go "What?" and you shout "CREAM SODA!" And ejaculate in her can.

Use Audacity. The stereo mix thing will likely be low quality and you'll get some background fuzz.

You have to use the midi map to create audio before it can be exported as mp3. For that you will need a DAW. Try the free trial of Reaper.
Guitars:
Fender Standard Strat
Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass
Martin DX1

Amps:
Peavey Classic 50/212

Pedal Board:
Gator 8-Bus
Boss TU-2 Tuner
Digitech Bad Monkey
Ibanez CF7 Chorus/Flanger
ISP Decimator
Dual button footswitch

You'll have to open the MIDI file with a DAW, play the file with softsynths or whatever, and record that.

If it's general MIDI, you can play it with quicktime or guitar pro or whatever, but that's just gross.

open itunes.
edit>prefrences>advanced.
click "importing"
make it say, "Import Using: MP3 Encoder"
hit "Ok"

now right click your MIDI file in itunes.
click, "convert selection to MP3"

wait a few seconds and you should find another file in your music folder.
that is your MP3.
you can go ahead and delete your MIDI (unless you need both of the same songs for some reason).

do i have to explain more?
this is how i got megaman music on my ipod. yea make fun of me.
but yea, it works.

the reason i'm asking is because when I just upload a midi track into garage band (just one instrument, mind you), it completely screws up the track. So if anyone has any idea how to export a midi track from Guitar pro 5 to garage band without screwing things up, please let me know.
