hello, the neck on the back of my bass seems to be unfinished. i was wondering what measures i need to take to ensure that my hand oils and such things do not ruin the neck. the bass is in the sig.

thanks for helping

I second the EBMM forum. Unfinished maple necks tend to warp and break. Warmoth doesn't sell unfinished necks for that very reason, and if you take off the finish, the warranty is void.

Really, I'm sure EBMM forums will have the same answer.

I was looking at a used Warwick Vampyre LTD 5'er for about $200. I went home to grab my wallet and came back and some jerk with an epic beard got it already..

its a rosewood neck, there doesn't seem to be a finish on the back of the neck compared to my other instruments...

and the warranty isn't void it was like that from the factory

is the whole @#$%^* neck rosewood?!? haven't seen those since the Brits bashed the Frogs at (the) Trafalgar Square!
It just seemed a good idea at the time to try putting a tenth in above it, which is a corny interval. But somebody had to do it just once, and now no one can ever do it again.'

Are you sure it's totally unfinished, or does it have a satin finish? I prefer satin over anything, and it helps to protect the neck from warpage. I doubt EBMM would make a bass with no finish at all on the neck.

Ok, maybe I should have added another term in there: untreated. An untreated, unfinished neck is bad.

I personally can't but I'm sure the EBMM forum could. There are some stinger owners on this forum and they might come around.

you can give it to me and get one with a more substantial finish.
i thought i had magic fingers once, and had uncovered the fountain of love.

turns out my girlfriend was just peeing on me.
