I am cluless when it comes to sound tech.
Im looking at something to boost the tone on something like a marshall DSL100 or a Peavey XXX. I only play hardcore and off genres of metal

Im reading the reviews and specs on
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Maxon-OD808-Overdrive?sku=155025
and
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/BBE-Sonic-Stomp-Pedal?sku=157030

Whats the main difference of them? If any?
Esp Ltd Viper 400
Ibanez RGT6EXFX
Peavey 5150 II
Randall Jag Cab
Mesa Boogie Oversized Cab

Those are two very different things there. What do you mean by boost? More distortion or gain?
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

Don't complain if someone hasn't answered your question in the first couple hours, it's a forum, not a damn chat room.

sonic stomp is more of a boost, while the tubescreamer can be a boost, but can also add some dirt to your sound depending on how you run it (level up, drive down or drive up, level down). id go with the tubescreamer

i didnt like the OD808 when i had it. it gave me a really killswitch engage sounding distortion with my mark iv. idk its just a certain quality that the pedal gives that really defines KsE's tone.
