The only time you would use a speaker cable is between a amplifier and a speaker. All other applications would use a instrument cable. The main problem with using a speaker cable for the wrong application is it will pick up signal from outside circuts and electro magnetic interferances. Causing radio reception, weird noises and groud buzz. AKA 60 cycle hum The problem with using a instrument cable as a speaker cord is the sheilding in the cable. A speaker cable has two isolated conductors surounded by a ruber jacket. Where a guitar cord has one isolated conductor with a braided sheild wraped arownd it. The sheilding protects the signal from the deaded 60hz hum and EMI. This shilding also causes lot of resistance on the amplifiers load. Making the power amp overheat and unable to controll speaker damping destroying tone quality.
