Using a semi- hollowbody for metal is a bad idea, feedback city. How about a MIM Strat or Tele?

MIM fender

07 Fender American Deluxe Strat

09 Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster
09 Fulltone OCD V.4

An SG Junior for metal? Srsly?

My SG has P-90s. It does teh br00talz.
Check out the Ibanez SZ series or Michael Kelly guitars. They're one of the most versatile guitars in the price range. They didn't skimp out on anything either. They sound and play great.

Okay then, I'd check out Strats, Teles, and Dots, just to see what type you're looking for, as they're all pretty unique guitars.

Personally, I've been lusting for a Tele for a while, so I'd probably go with one of those.

Not really.....my teacher used his FULL hollow to play Holy Wars, sounded fine. As long as you know what you're doing you can do metal on a semi-hollow, it's just not ideal.

If you REALLY want to go new, I would suggest a Fat Strat. Probably one of the most versatile guitars for $400 new.

Also check out rondomusic.com, they have nice LP copies for cheap. Look at the AL-3000MAP, it's like $350. And before you ask, it's cheap because it's direct from them, no middlemen jacking up prices.

But really... there's no cookie. And if there was, you wouldn't get one.

Your life is worth more than 4 grand. The way I see it, you might as well play the SG because what the hell is the point of owning the thing if you don't play it? It's like those guys who buy vintage cars and leave them in a garage for 20 years.
