So Ive been hearing alot about this little myth that seems to be circulating between bass players, and now it was passed on to me. for those who don't know about this. Apparently, musicians who choose to buy a red Rickenbacker are doomed to fade away and disapear. So in other words, the red Rickenbacker is the Bermuda Triangle of musical instruments. Anyone have anything else to add to this? Ive googled and found no stories. So I have come to the all knowing Pit to help me on my quest for knowledge of this myth.

at least one may not actually be true

XD!! Thanks guys, your posts made my day. Especially you Thebiz. I think UG should organize a fundraiser to save up for the infamous Red Rickenbacker and send it "Anonymously" to Pete Wentz.

Then all we do is wait. =P

No, Cliff Burton did not play a RED RIC, he played a Burgundy one. This is my genuine -of the so called cursed type- Lefty RED RIC and as you can see, it's really RED:

Myth solved, you have used the ALL-KNOWING GOOGLE and it failed, therefore the MYTH IS BUSTED!

but it is not the shade of RED that is connected with the CURSE!!!!

It's the RED RICS with black trim and binding that are the CURSED ones and have the myth attached and they are no longer made. All others are the ordinary RICS.

no bassists disappear because they want to play hide and seek, and nobody looks for them
Divine creations now destroyed to uncover the haunted atmosphere
Strange visions of the ancient spirits, travesty of man appears

Since when can bass players fade out more than they already have?
