I recently ordered an ESP EC-1000 from American Musical Supply in black.

However, the hardware was all supposed to be gold. When I hopened it up, the hardware was all black. I googled it, I looked on their website, and I can't find this guitar in this color with black hardware anywhere. What the hell is the deal?

I called AMS and they refunded me 100$.

It was probably a mistake at the factory. Either call them up and ask for an exchange, or consider it a rarity and be happy.

OR get some metallic gold paint and have at it.

Wouldn't you want silver hardware? Gold would just look ugly if you look at the binding.

Isn't the EC1000 the proper ESP version? Yours has LTD on the headstock.

The EC1000 is an LTD. The ESP is called the Eclipse.

Back on topic. Might as well keep the black anyways. At least it won't fade in 5 years.

Nope, it's an LTD. If it was called the Eclipse-II, it would be an ESP.

The EC-1000 comes in either "Black" or "Vintage Black". The regular "Black" is what you have there, the "Vintage Black" has gold hardware and a more satin-ish finish. What happened is you ordered the "Vintage Black" and they sent you the regular old "Black".

Guy above me is semi-right. You must have ordered the Vintage, but gotten the solid black. Either way the gold should have been there. Look's pretty good through, it's up to you if you want to return it. The only thing I don't like is the neck binding...too flashy for me.

I played the EC-1000 and really liked it, so if the only issue you have is gold hardware, then just keep this one, it looks great! And since it's a "mistake", it's one of a kind!

To anyone confused to what the TS is saying:

Both have gold hardware, he got one with the wrong hardware color.

You're a very lucky man. The black hardware won't wear as much as the gold and they even gave you a hundred bucks back!

I planned on keeping it. I was very upset at first, but after stepping back and looking at it from a distance, I realized... "damn, that is sexier than I thought it was going to be with the gold". I still figured why the hell not give them a call and find out what the deal was. The guy I spoke to told me I could ship it back, free of charge, and theky would replace it. I asked him how much it would cost them, and he said about 100$ for the cost of shipping both ways, so I suggested just refunding me that much and they did it.

So everyone else likes it?

I know it's an easy fix if I ever wanted to change, but it's not a cheap fix. those locking tuners aren't free

Ah right, I just thought EC was an abbreviated form of eclipse.

Hmmm, they do them left handed...
