So over the last few days my amps has been sounding a bit poor. WHen i turn it on there is a loud pop and the same when i turn it off even when all dials are set to 0.

One of the 12AX7 valves has a bluey haze around it, all the others look normal.

The amp is about 2 and a half years old, and I have left it on for long periods of time a few times.

Thanks.

yeah, blue tubes means that there is a leak in the vacuum seal.

I take it im gonna have to replace them both, would it be worth replacing the 6L6s aswell?

A blue glow is normal, its just electrons hitting an impurity in the glass. Purple means trouble though. Does sound like your valves have a problem anyway so replace them.

If I were you I'd do the lot and get it rebiased.

This is a light blue (like the blue part of a flame) sort of colour and it's only on one of the 6 valves in my head.

Is it difficult to fit them all myself?

I've just discovered it makes a crackling sound every few minutes with when it's on standby... Does that mean anything?

Popping when you switch your amp on is pretty normal, my amp always does it, even with the volume at 0. Still though i would get a revalve, you will be blown away by how much less muddy your amp will sound. If i was you i wouldn't replace them yourself, you'll need them rebiased (probably) and this isn't a job for someone who doesn't really know what they're doing

This isn't a quiet pop, it's quite loud.
I think i know somewhere that can fit the new ones for me, hopefully they wont charge to much.
