My band have decided to record one or two of our tracks professionally in a local studio. So far we have a few ****ty recordings of gigs and want something of better quality. We collectively know jack all about this though.

Any ideas on how much we should be looking to pay? The studio told us around £200 for half a day's recording. Is this a good price?

How long should it take to do one track?

cheers.

Thats a little steep at least compared to our US prices, but if the studio is well respected it may be worth it. My suggestion would be to check around and see if there are any other studios in the area just as a reference.

Any idea how long 1 track should take?

We consist of drums, bass, 1 guitar, keyboard and singer.

All depends on how tight of a band you are. If you can play it through perfectly in one take, it shouldn't take much time at all.
