I want to talk about the whole emo band issue. Im not a big fan of emo myself, of course some is crap just like every genre, but I like fall out boy (not as much as zeppelin though, so dont get any ideas from the title.)

But I don't see what is wrong with fall out boy. What people diss fall out boy about is just what they say about all emo bands, and FOB isn't even all that emo.

So my true question: does anyone else actually like fall out boy?

No.
"Ultimate"-Guitar is the worst website on the internet. Polluted with unintelligent mongoloids.
#3
I like them better than Led Zeppelin. The Cork Tree album had some pretty strong pop-punk songs on it.

I can listen to them without immediately having the urge to go on a nun- slaughtering rampage. That's as much as I can say.
#5
alright, i was just saying the whole zeppelin thing so that way some of the classic rock people would have something to compare to and not shut my ideas down for saying fob is better than zep.
#7
Because they contain Pete Wentz. Also, not my kind of music. I don't rip on them, but I sure don't listen to them.
#8
No, what does liking Led Zeppelin have to do with anything?

EDIT: Never mind, i c wht u did thar.
#9
yeah i like them, but they aren't my favorite band at all.
i like them a lot more than some other mainstream stuff out there now.

I don't like them personally, but I can understand why and how people can get into them. They're catchy, and they play sing-along radio-friendly songs.

Yeah, this guy is a little bit pretentious for someone who plays root notes. Sorry, just think that if he were better, he'd have reason for his messiah complex.

A- people being banned
B- tears
or
C- a Nun slaughtering rampage

so no, we will not have this discussion.

They aren't terrible. Wentz' lyrics are pretty good; full of metaphors, really abstract.

There's definitely worse music out there *ahemevanescenceahem*.

However, I think Pete Wentz flashes his face to sell his music more than the music does.

I don't hate Fall Out Boy, they're just not my kind of music. I'm not going to hate on someone that likes them either.

However, I DESPISE Pete Wentz.

It's ironic really, how people will chew a band out for having 14 year old fangirls who supposedly only like them cause they're good-looking, and then proceed to say they dislike a band because one of the members is an ass without paying any attention to the music itself.

The real emo argument may be right, but no one ever listens to reason in threads like this anyway.

The real pop-punk issue is a whole different debate I'm not going to get into at this particular moment.

Led Zeppelin isn't all that great at all really.

+1 for the Fugazi reference haha

i think they are exactly what someone said above me, manufactured crap. they arent really anything of their own, they are corperate music: easy, catchy, and sing- along-y.
im not saying all music that is catchy and easy to sing to is manufactured though, there is a fine line that some people just cant define, those people are fall out boy fans.

I have 2 problems with them.
1) Pete Wentz's messiah complex
2) Patrick Stump doesn't anunciate(sp? I'm lazy) the lyrics when he sings, so it sounds like a load of gibberish. However, his vocal melodies are damn catchy.

I'll take FOB over NuMetal or Rap or Country any day. Completely tolerable to me.

I like Fall Out Boy. Emo isn't bad music, but Fall Out Boy isn't emo. Bands like Fugazi and Rites of Spring ARE though.

Somewhat on topic, MCR isn't emo either. That doesn't mean I like MCR though.

People generally dislike them because:

theyre media icons.

some members of the band have admitted to caring very little about music actually, and instead the popularity.

I would like proof of that last statement. I know Joe Trohman is a very talented and dedicated guitarist, and Andy Hurley has too much talent as a drummer to not care. Stump writes most of the melodies and does the arrangements, a lot of work for someone who doesn't care, and Wentz pens most of the lyrics which seem very little like a half-assed attempt. I find the notion that they're not dedicated to their music to be ridiculous.
