Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica has one of the most admirable voices I've ever heard. He sings a good clean tenor range... then pulls friggin' higher-end treble clef notes out his ass! WITHOUT going falsetto! HOW! I mean.. I knew he had a nice high voice, but it just dawned on me 2 days ago when I was listening to My Selene, and I got to the key change near the end... I was singing along with it, and then I tried to go high with the key change, and it just didn't happen >.> So I was playing around on my guitar later, trying to figure out the melody of that chorus... In the bulk of the song, the chorus goes up to an A#... I was able to hit it somehow... I thought my range went to a G on a good day =P But then I went with the key change, and realized he's singing a friggin' C#!!! And I know he's gone higher than that in the past... VERY FEW guys can do that... It's very very very huge of an accomplishment, and he should really get some recognition for his voice... I mean really... Those notes are hittin' around the lower-mid soprano range... Assuming he can atLEAST go as low as an F in the base clef, thats about an octave and a half of good clean pure tone... And it's a very desirable 12-15 note range to have... Talented bastard...

Wow, Blind Guardian and Into Eternity's vocalists are good aswell, but idk if they have the same note range...

Yeah, I also find Tony's voice unbelievable from time to time. On his early albums he did go really high from time to time using falsette but nowadays he kinda dropped that. When he sings falsette nowadays you barely even notice it.

The only problem I sometimes have with Tony is his finnish accent but he is improving on that part!

Also check out Roy Kahn & Jorn Lande, nobody can match their technical vocal skills.

Lande is awesome. I only found him because I got the Allen-Lande album, just because of Russell Allen. Both of those guys are great.

As for Tony, he's incredible, but he has this tendency to sound nasal at times.

Come to think of it, I'm going to inflict a list of my own favourites on you. Hansi Kirsch, J. Ahola, Marco Hietala, Tobias Sammett, Russell Allen, Chris Jericho, Matt Barlow, Tim Owens, Rob Halford and Mikael Akerfeldt.

True.

But Hansi has the great clean voice, and the growly rasps etc. He has a pretty normal range in notes though. Which is good, I wouldn't like BG as much if they had those typical power metal high pitched screams.

Yeah, I'm a major falsetto fan, but Hansi's voice fits Blind Guardian so well and gives them a great "different" sort of feel. His more aggressive style really fits the band, I mean, just look at (or, uh, listen to) Imaginations From The Other Side:

...what about him? I do hope you're not comparing his range to Tony Kakko's, because you have to admit his range is...somewhat limited Awesome singer though, just the right attitude and feel for Venom.

Btw, highest voice ever = Death Angel - Mistress of Pain.
