Hey everybody so I've decided to take a shot at transposing songs by ear in order to work out my musical ear and become a more independant guitarist. Can anyone recommend some easy songs to start transposing with? Or tips on transposing? Thanks a lot...

find the key if you cant hear individual chords/notes.
Learn simple undistorted songs.
listen to the intervals they'll help you find the chords/notes

You mean transcribing. Transposing is putting it into a different key.

First of all, I know it's obvious but just listening to the music and trying to play it helps most of all.
Learning the intervals is good - google Earmaster Pro for a good ear training program. It's not free, but then what isn't if you know where to look?
If you can't hear the chords very easily, try finding the roots but also try writing down the melody, working out what key it's in and working out the likely harmonies from that.

If you need help with any of the theory, MT is your friend.
