Alrighty so I'm looking into new guitars and I seem to have settled on an epiphone elitist LP. Now, there are three variations on this and, on paper, they're all the same.

My question is, are aesthetics the only thing that separates these guitars? Or is there something i'm not seeing that sets them apart in build quality or tone?

IIRC, they're all the same. You're paying more for the 'plus' though, because it has a maple top + a cherry burst, whereas the other ones are solid colors.

They're all the same but get the goldtop!

Interesting. It turns out that there are people on the forum who play an upright bass. I'll make a note of that.

*makes note*

*puts note on wall*

*stares at note for a minute*

*sits back down and resumes doing what I was doing*

That $1000 Epi will blow away a $1000 Gibson in terms of worksmanship. So no, don't get the Gibson. Gibson have some QC issues until you're up in the ~$1400+ range.

Get a Gibson Les Paul for the price?

Gibson Les Pauls in the same ballpark are generally seen as inferior to Epiphone Elitists.
