I want to get a les paul soon and I was trying to figure out which would be best for my needs. I play stuff like Velvet Revolver, Pearl Jam, Lenny Kravitz, Kid Rock, and Chris Cornell and I need to know what would the best buy for me. I use a Marshall JCM2000 DSL401 and my price range is under $2,000. I was looking at both Elitist Epiphones and a Gibson Standard Faded but didn't know which would be better. So which would be better? And if there are any other good ones in my price range feel free to provide them.

i would look between the standard and the classic, i chose the classic because i liked the pickups better. the epiphone elitist is only on par with the gibson studio, but anything else get the gibson, plus you will have better resale. look used, can get way more bang for your buck

i play a standard and i absolutley love it
i use it as my main guitar in my band (www.myspace.com/bulletsnboxcars), as well as my jazz/blues bands and orchestra pits that i'm involved with at my school, so it really is very versatile

Elitist>Studio

sorry it's true...

anyway, you don't have as many people banging at your door for a used Elitist, but a few people have offered me 800-900 in CASH... and Studios can go anywhere from 450-600 on craigslist, just an idea

BTW people only realize mine isn't a gibson when I 1. tell them 2. they finally look at the headstock... it still get a LOT of respect
