the only thing that would accomplish is people flocking to freeware antivirus that wouldn't implement this crap.

What a bunch of pussies. They should settle it like men, and have just start hand to hand combat with downloaders.

The type of computer doesn't matter, they want to put the software into the MODEMS or ROUTERS...so if you have an internet connection, everything going through there will be filtered.

Yeah, but I don't see this happening as long as we don't live in North Korea or something.
#16
Instead of whining, they should invest the time and resources to make it happen - develop the product, etc.

Then market: "Want us to know about your illegal music? Install RIAA AntiPiracy today!"

Well, I think if they want to try to tell us what to do, they should do it like real men. By force. That's what our government does, right?

There will be fighting in the streets. Internet nerds vs business suits. They may be able to afford the guns, but WE have the numbers. There will be blood!

I like the idea as long as you don't HAVE to buy modems with the software installed. If it somehow becomes a national protocol, I won't be happy, that's ridiculous.

I'm confident such an idea would fail, hard.

Hackers would just find a way to bypass such a thing.

there are still ways around that, all you need to do is bypass the filter and prvent the modem/router from connecting to the RIAAs IPs.

Sure, if they can figure out a way to hire all the lawyers to sue all the people who pirate music...

What's the software going to do, delete the files? Pfft, then you download a freeware anti- virus software that isn't paid to install that feature.

But hey, they gave us Qtrax, which is about as useful as a radio right now with no ability to download yet, let alone operate without crashing. The RIAA is one failed plan after another, and while some things they come up with may have the potential to be pretty cool, they turn out to just blow up in their face. I'd say the RIAA isn't full of top- notch businessmen if you ask me.

Firstly, yay for the UK version being far less aggressive, and virtually usless.

But that is retarded. Anti virus products could essentialily advertise not having it and generate sales.
