Okay, I'm aware of the actual equipment he used on various albums. But my question is a little bit different:

For those that have covered Dime solos, what is the LEAST amount of FX **pedals** you need to replicate his sound. I would think wah and Digitech Whammy. But which wah? etc. etc...

The reason I emphasis pedals and not FX is that I already have an effects rack(and of course a floyd ), but I'm looking to really hit those Dime solos as close as possible LIVE without changing my current rig. Any advice? thx!!

There's a Dimebag signature wah and distortion pedal I believe. Haven't tried them but it should help.

This is UG, we love Schecters and Ibanez and Jacksons, we hate Deans and BCR's, we hate Marshall MG's, and everyone needs a new amp.

I own the wah and it rocks. You can use it for anything from funk to metal. The dime distortion sucks though.

hmmm...you know I always considered signature stuff like pedals were just dumb marketing ploys...but I'll rethink the dime-wah.

I also have to figure out the correct amount of reverb and compression to get that dime sound, especially on his more extreme tremolo solos. I think on "Far Beyond Driven" he used the Digitech Whammy a lot. but any other suggestions would be cool. thx

EDIT: you know, I just noticed I posted this in the wrong forum

Isn't the Dime wah just a 535Q with dime's name and design on it?

I don't know about any 535Q(I'm assuming a crybaby?), but I know for sure people put names on stuff and jack up the price. So I never tried a Dime-pedal. But people here seems to be saying some nice things. Worth checking out I guess, too bad you can't really crank out a halfstack in a music store cause that would be a true test.

Yes it is, and with a different pain job. The dime wah has a bit more sweep to it, but you can live without that. Its very slight

Dimebag used a Dunlop Crybaby From Hell wah pedal, an MXR blue box flanger, the original Digitech Whammy pedal, some MXR distortion pedal, and a loop pedal.

Oh, and he used (PanterA) Randall SS half stacks too...
