So I may be getting a new bass soon and I was wanting a 5 string. But I already want a thinner neck than what i have. So are there any 5 strings with necks as thin as a 4 string? I fnot i'd rather get a 4 string I cant stand how wide my p bass neck is.

You will not find a 5 string bass with a neck thinner than a P bass (1.625" nut width IIRC).

If you want a low B on a 4 string and dont mind losing your G string then buy a Fender Jazz and string it BEAD.

Thinner neck than the P and nicer imo. Be warned - once you buy a jazz bass, you may never buy another model of bass ever again! They're seriously addictive.

I dont think the necks of a Stiletto are thinner than a P bass. In fact - i thought they modelled the neck shape to be similar to a P.

Lemme check...

Well I cant find an exact nut width but it does look awfully similar to a P and when I tried one it felt like a P.

A 5 string neck isn't that bad when you play around with one for a while. I was cautious about getting one when I bought mine, but the neck on my Schecter Elite-5 doesn't seem too much bigger than my PBass neck.

Have you tried out any 5ers mate?

The Ibanez ergodyne has a 5er that has a neck thinner than my J-Bass copy.

Most Ibanez necks for the (skinny) win! I had an Ibanez 305 whatever 5 string and it was pretty darn fast. Now that my neck tastes have changed however, Ibanez necks don't have enough heft for me.

Schecter necks are pretty small too. I have a Stiletto Studio 4 and the neck is about as thin as my Ibanez GSR 200. So i would imagine that a 5 string Stiletto wouldnt be much larger than a 4 string Fender P.
