hey all, i've bought a boss GT-8 unit, and love the sound i get from it. i play it through my 6505 212 combo, and it sounds amazing, but it's just too big to carry around to gigs and too loud to use ina bedroom setting. i play heavy metal, and some death metal, a ****load of Nevermore, Arch enemy, and my own band that sounds like both of them. i also play dream theater and lighter metal, and the occasional van halen or other classic rock songs for family get togethers. all im looking for is an amp, be it solid state or tube i don't mind, that has a nice speaker driver to emphasize the GT-8's sound. i don't necessarily need an amp that sounds great on it's own, jsut high quality components in a smaller quieter package that i can more easily carry around.

Have you tried plugging it straight into the return of the effects loop? That way you don't use the amp's preamp and the sound you get is purely the GT-8.

Nope, it's just a multi effects processor.

I read somewhere that they are supposed to be perfect for eachother, or something like that.

ya i do plug it straight into the effects loop, my problem is the amp is just too big to haul around.

Can you get Visual Sound products in your area? They produce an amp, the Workhorse series are one channel, tube 30watt amplifiers made for those whose tone comes from external processing, other than the amp. Seriously, the cleans on this are seriously good, and although I wasn't able to get it to 10 when I tried it, it seems to have plenty of headroom. There's a Pony and a Stallion (1x12 or 2x12).

Seriously, you ought to give this a try.

Isn't the Gt-8 made for the roland jazz chorus or something like that?

They areboth a roland product but its not a bad combo becuase the jc is a very clean amp.
