Where does the popup come from? Your antivirus program or your browser? If it's the latter I wouldn't worry.

Do NOT download anything it prompts you to. You're gonna have to purchase some software to get rid of it... Sorry dude. Don't watch teh pr0n!

its definately adware or some stupid ****
although you may actually have one, the fact that the pop ups want you to download something makes me suspicious

We think it is

And yeah, don't download anything, just tell your parents you've been bad and let them figure it out.

You don't want to ruin it anymore than you already have

Use AVG. google it.. use lavasoft google it...

If all else fails

Start - All Programs - Acessories - System Tools - System Restore.

Restore it back to before you had the problem.

It wasn't pr0n? Ok, well what was it? I'm not gonna judge you on it... it's just that if it wasn't anything inappropriate, you can tell your parents. They won't get mad at you for wanting to watch like a movie or a music video on the computer, especially if they know or think you don't know much about computers. They'll just say to not download anything next time, and you're good.

System restore is always nice and easy. If not, I remember the last time I got a virus, I used some program like killbox or something like that to get rid of it. Google is surprisingly good for helping you get rid of viruses too if you have access to another computer.

18 posts and no help (hardly).

1. Do not download anything else other than AVG, install AVG from download.com, install. (Unless you have a decent anti-virus and/or know the name of the trojan; skip to step 5, lol.)

2. Restart the comp, just as it restarts hit F8 a few times 'till you get a screen asking if you want to run windows in safe mode, choose yes and without the networking options.

3. Run AVG - Get the name of the trojan, try and delete it if it finds it. (This will not remove it fully)

4. Restart the computer in normal mode (don't press F8, Just let it boot up)

5. Search with Google the trojans name, asking "how to remove *insert trojan here*? Then find a computer tech forum in the results and they will tell you how to do the rest in very easy instructions.

Give that a go.

Filth, pure filth... That's what you are.

Repeating Kensai's unanswered question, What kind of pop-up is it?

If the pop up is an Internet Explorer thing then it's probably spyware/adware trying to trick you into buying a product that's probably loaded with 10x more adware and spyware.

If it's being flagged by your antivirus then it might be a real trojan.

I suggest downloading and running spybot search & destroy if it's an IE popup and if the AV software you have can't clear it in the case of an actual trojan, try AVG free edition.

its a pop-up from directly the internet. i tried to find it with norton 360 but it says no viruses of spyware were found. i did the restore thing and i set it back 4 days but its still here...

Norton is a big steaming pile of ****(historically, no exp with norton 360 myself).

download spybot search and destroy and update its definitions, run a scan, I guarantee it will clear out 10's if not 100's of nasty things lurking on your machine that norton missed

As The Hurt Within kinda said, google is your best bet. Someone else will have had it, and there's most likely a guide somewhere to get rid of it. If not, a computer/virus forum will be able to help you. Those tech guys can do anything
