I picked up Troy Stetina's Speed Mechanics for Lead Guitar - already struggling with exercise #1

He has you do a triple pull off 5p4p3p2 on each string. I can do a good single pull off but I struggle when I go to the 2nd or 3rd pull off to get a clear sound.

Any help or tips?

Yeah, that's all there is to it. There's no magic involved- just practice it slow, slowly getting faster until you can do it as fast as you need to.

for trills try a downward clamp for on and a circuklar type motion for off. also from now on use your pinky and ring fingers for pulloffs rather than index or middle. this will get better if you play normal stuff with different fingers.

But really, asking the pit for relationship advice is like asking a girl with braces for a blowjob. Ouch.

Just stick with it and move through the book slowly. It's really one of the best technical books I've ever read, if not the best, and if you use it right, it will help.
