so yesterday i was in GC, im kinda shopping for a new guitar so i was testing out a white telecaster...

i was playing a bluesy song i wrote and some kid comes and sits by me with a dean and turns his amp up louder than mind... (i was playing below 2 on a valveking 212) he was playing one of those dean v things... like dime's...
and he was trying to play walk, but he sucked horribly. he was looking at me like he was all badass.

so i get up and go grab a gibby lp studio and come back to my seat and plug it in and start playing the Rock And Roll solo (zeppelin) while staring at him (i didnt blink but maybe 4 times)

and he says "i bet id kick your ass at guitar hero"

wtf?!

ever had any encounters with dumbasses in guitar center or other guitar stores?

no he sat next to me. the store was almost empty. he had 20 other amps to choose from, he chose to sit next to me and turn his amp up louder than me...
i get pissed pretty easily. so instead of a physical fight i showed him up.

Didn't involve a customer, but I tried to buy a heavy set of guitar strings and the guy behind the counter didn't know what the hell I was talking about. That was pretty sad.

And this wasn't necessarily a dumbass moment, but back about half a year after I started playing, I was just playing random guitars throughout the store, and every time I'd pick one up, this guy (probably 17 or 18 years old) came up next to me and started shredding his ass off on some random guitar, and it seemed as if he followed me around the store doing it. I'd go to one guitar and start playing, and the next thing I know, he's doing it again. I even went to go into the acoustic room to start playing in there, and he's in there too!

I don't believe this story. Who are the people going to Guitar Center? Us.

And these threads are constantly done.

I love you =] I can't say I was very fond of you when we first started talking because you trolled the hell out of my threads, but after talking to you here I've grown very attached to you.

Yeah, write to my fanclub about it, honey.

well the point of this thread was to point out what he said.
and he says "i bet id kick your ass at guitar hero"

i mean... is this how music is going to turn out to be like...
or are there just dumbasses like this everywhere?
#13
this just happens. this is why i love hate GC. i mean they have such a great selection and inventory but the trade off is you have to fight your way to find working/in tune gear and then not have a bozo crank their amp. if they want to crank the amp go in the 'loud' room or talk to an associate. errr bothersome.

I'll let you figure that one out.

Anyways I agree with the other guy. So what if some kid came up and did that. You should have just walked away or asked him to turn down. By "showing him up" you are being equally as douchey, if not moreso. As for the guitar hero comment, i'm not even sure I believe that.

But, if it is true, then you should have posted this story in the thread entitled "Guitar Center Stories". I think this would have fit nicely in there.

I would've laughed so hard at the kid and then gave you a high five if I was there.

I love guitar center employees:

I'll be sitting playing a tele, or something.

And right behind me

Salesman "So your looking for a guitar amp"
New guitarist/Parent "Yes,"
Salesman "Well, these are line 6 spiders, they have a whole bunch of cool effects"
New guitarist.. "Hmm Cool! it looks good!"
Salesman "here try it out!"

As I sit and go.. "NOooooooooooooo don't buy it!"

Also, when I go and play an amp or guitar, and 3 or 4 dicks come sit down, all grab a guitar and "Shred" or attempt to with a stack on full volume. Occasionally I can hear a few notes of a pantera song.

I hate when people put this at the end of their threads. It's obvious that don't give a flying f*ck whether or not we have had similar experiences, but they just put it there so the topic isn't spam. I wish people here would learn to use their blog more.

at Guitar center here theres at least 1 guy in the guitar section that knows what hes talking about but good...the drum section is a joke i mean really the people there are true idiots

I have a friend who is insanely good, but seems to really enjoy showing up the posers like that kid....he's a bit cocky but it's always funny. I think my favorite time was when there was this douche playing enter sandman through a stack, standard noob and all that,...he wasn't on max, but he was just loud enough to piss everyong off......so my friend grabs a squier strat and plugs into a little 30 watt crate thing, turnd it up all the way and plays some crazy Satch Boogie-esque solo, complete with whammy bar abuse...the look on the guy's face was priceless. The best part was that my friend didn't even look at the guy...he was on the other side of the amp stack.
Nope, no sig here.

I think well all agree that you don't have to crank a half stack
up to *7* to hear what it sounds like. I've just learned to expect
these noobs whenever i go to check out new gear.

I've been to Guitar Center quite a lot, and I've never had anything like this happen. This is just a personal opinion, but about 90% of these stories sound like they're made up...I mean, they're amusing and all, but I'm pretty sure people go to GC to buy gear, not duel with message board trolls.

I was there trying out guitars and this guy cranked up his amp really loud, tuned to drop d, and played this riff repetitively:

*chug* *chug* *chug* *pinch harmonic*

Where do you guys find these people? I have been to Guitar Center many times and I usually only have to deal with annoying sales people trying to get me to buy expensive equipment.

i go in my local GC and they pretty much ignore me now because i hardly buy stuff (but when i do i spend nicely) but usually there's some nutjob (like the dude that thinks he's jon bonham's son who "shreds" on a strat and crate amp at rediculous levels) who thinks he's king **** and annoys everyone. i prefer to play so that only i can hear myself but the one time i did have it loud enough for anyone else to hear some dude that was like 60 years old was standing behind me and i started playing laid to rest by lamb of god and he was like "that sounded great man, keep it up" ..pretty much a wtf moment.
