Unless it takes buying complicated gear that costs hundreds, I can do it. So, what are some of the cheaper ways to cut bottlenecks?

EDIT:
Do I have to have bottlenecks fit to my fingers(but easily removable)?

And how do I play with it?(press on the wood or lightly touch the strings?)

with a slide, you just touch the strings, not the frets or wood.

usually, open tunings are used too
Get off this damn forum and play your damn guitar.

you play with a slide by having the strings only coming into contact with the slide, not the frets. As for how to cut a bottle to make one, I have no idea. Very carefully?

Forsaknazrael makes them out of beer bottles, so maybe PM him and see if he'll share how not to get shards of glass in your eyes. That or just take the easy way out and buy one from him.

edit: well, there you go. He posted an answer before I got to post about asking him...

I used a glass cutter to score a line around the neck of the bottle, then warmed the bottle with a gas heater and put it under cold water and it broke right off. Little bit of sanding to smoothen the edges and done.

The cold/hot plan works, but it's a bit more dangerous, and even less consistent, since the explosion is random. And it can be a bit dangerous, too. This is broken glass shattering, after all.

I guess you could throw the glass in the cold water and then take cover behind your sofa or something

I guess you're reffering to my post with the glass in the eyes comment?
Well, if you screw up, then it is shattering glass, so you should wear some kind of eye protection. I wasn't really saying "if you screw up, you'll have half a beer bottle in your eye.", more of "be careful, because random shards of glass aren't fun.". Just kind of putting it into a situation to be aware of.

and I wouldn't expect a soldering iron to work super well, as it'd be hard to heat it consistantly. I don't know, though. I've never tried it...
