I have a mexican strat and its a boring black. its also a very ****ty mexi paint job. Its got a few scratches that I thought overtime would make it more interesting, but now realize that poly scratched does not cool cool, it just looks like cracked plastic. So im thinkinog painting a psychedelic paint job on it, or at the very least, upgrading to nitro.
Is it worth all the effort? Should i just buy another body?

Modding a prized guitar that has seen rough times is definitely always worth it. You can fall in love with it all over again while learning more about how it's put together.

For ideas on simple color schemes, do some modeling at Kisekae.

Post what kind of psychedelic you're considering ... swirl, graffiti, etc.?

i was just looking at a swirl technique at project guitar actually, and it looked reallllly sweet. It also looked realllly complicated tho, so I may end up just either going with a jimi hendrix style guitar (the same style, not the same design), or a dead meadow kind of psychedelic ( http://www.southern.net/southern/band/DEADM/pics/TLT06L.jpg.
