Are there any specific modern metal (in a very broad sense of the term) musicians that have publicized drug use or heavy drinking? cause i'm doing a research project on the ways that the artists of the 70s influenced musicians of modern metal, and i figure a lifestyle that often involves substance abuse is one.

thanks

Dimebag Darrell.

Just take in the damn name.

But, other than that...Herman Li, I guess for alchohol abuse, and his partner Sam Totamn, if you consider them metal.

Hmm, they don't necessarily endorse it, except for Dime.

Chuck Schuldiner (RIP) from Death supported cannabis use, but not hard drugs (i.e. heroin, cocaine, crystal meth)

If we count Grunge, Layne Staley of Alice In Chains died from cocaine and heroin overdoes.

And many metal musicians are heavy drinkers. Example.

Sure, lots of music might've. Unfortunately lots of musicians didn't. In other words, they died.

Hmm, first that come to mind are Dimebag, Chuck Shuldiner, Motley Crue, Dragonforce, And not really metal, but it's for a school project so he'd probably fit in well for it, Marilyn Manson and his band members/ex members - excluding Johnny 5.

Chuck was actually against hard drugs, and only favored recreational cannabis use. James Hetfield went to rehab for alcohol. I remember reading in an interview where Kirk and Lars talked about doing coke. Chris Poland from Megadeth used to be junkie. **** can't think of any more right now.
