my band is playing interstellar overdrive by Pink Floyd. I don't know what scale it's in. Most likely when im soloing, there will be nothing backing me up. What would be a good scale to just doodle around in?

2 things you could do.

1. make a chord progression that u can solo to

2 just play what the song is key in. If its in g play the g pent scale
My newest cover Rivers Of Babylon sublime style.

for interstellar overdrive you do not want to limit yourself to one scale the whole time. the song launches into outerspace, so you have to also. Just keep the basic tonalities intact every now and then and play where your fingers lead you. if it sounds good, keep going with it and have the rest of the band follow you.
