...recommend me some good music from the following genres? I've tried reading the recommendation lists in the genre sub-forums but I'm usually disappointed so I'm looking for some refined help.

Ska - Anything specials-esque.
Reggae - Anything political or cheerful.
'Indie' (e.g. Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, not strictly indie labled.) - Something that doesn't try too hard. By which I mean anything with a catchy melody since most 'Indie' music I hear ditches melodies in an attempt to be obscure.

Cheers, pit!

I know nothing about those genre's.

Though in school when I hung out with alot of skaters I didn't mind Reel Big Fish.

I have, I'm looking for something more... forgot the word... vintage? From the 2-tone specials/madness era.

Ska/Reggae I listen to Pepper, Sublime, and Slightly Stoopid, they are close enough to ska/reggae.

Good Indie is Bright Eyes/Neutral Milk Hotel, Death Cab for Cutie, and the Decemberists.

Ska- Listen to MADNESS
They're awesome.

Reggae- Listen to Slightly Stoopid
They're awesome too.

Indie- Listen to the entire 'Plans' Album by Death Cab for Cutie
One of the only I can listen to every track.

I'm already aware of how godly Madness are, but I'll check out the rest

Thanks all, keep 'em coming.

Oh ok, like I said I don't know alot about those genre's. Someone above me mentioned Pepper, they are really good. Especially if you are a fan of Sublime.
