BlackZeppelin you just said in another thread that you hate/want to get rid of indie kids...but now you are posting a MGMT thread when MGMT started out opening for indie bands like Of Montreal....contradictory.

I want rid of BlackZep

I like these but need to listen to more. Were great as Radiohead support, but I wish the set was longer. Much longer.

I fucking hate the indie kid/hipster style. Plain and simple.

BUT, does that all of a sudden, mean that I should stop posting in this thread? Hell no. Just cause I dislike the style doesn't mean in any way that I should all of a sudden dislike MGMT's music or any other indie music for that matter. I will proudly admit that indie music is my favorite genre of music today, but the style that many of the followers of the music have is just ridiculously unattractive, in my opinion. And that is why I mentioned it in my thread; because I find the indie/hipster style very unattractive.

So, do you guys want to persecute me any further, or are you done?

I knew you were kidding. It's just I've having to do alot of backing up statements I've made lately. It just got on my nerves. As for the hipster/indie style in the US...

That's basically it. There's worse, I wish I could show you, but I can't find an accurate interpretation.

How so? They're look? If so, then I could kind of agree.

Took a listen to these guys the other day, thought it was utter crap.

I agree. Most of my friends have become obsessed with them, but I don't think they are anything special.

Imo they're one of the best groups to emerge in the last couple of years. Funny thing is I hated them when I first heard them, but I wasn't really listening, meh.

Ahhh MGMT....delicious I really do not see how anyone cannot like this band..they are so god damned brilliant I'm a bit of a fanboy though so my opinion is extremely biased

Is that a ukulele in your pants, or did you just rip ass to the tune of "Aloha Oi"?

I met Sonic Youth on June 30th, and Mars Volta on Oct 20th.

Yea, I was just watching some live videos from that concert. Lets just say, I favorited a few of them.

I just bought the Time to Pretend EP and it's impressive. I don't like the song Love Always Remains the techno synth vocal effect thingy is to wierd for me. But Indie Rokkers is such a sick song.
#62
Yeah. wow. man. This band blows me away.
I get totally immersed in the music everytime I listen. It feels sooo good.
#63
LMAO, Andrew and Ben seem pretty stoned in this vid...

CHECK IT!

Just another reason why I love MGMT.

I must've heard Electric Feel 200 times - I'm addicted.

I've got the album and it didn't blow me away - Kids is the closest thing on there to topping Electric Feel as far as I'm concerned.

I love the music but I hate the vocals, if they were an instrumental band, they'd give ratatat a run for their money.

I met one of the guys from them at T in the Park, Im not a big fan though so wasnt much of a big deal. My mates were all like wow though :L

to both steve_muse and clancy256, be sure to listen to the original version of Kids. Its about a thousand times better than the version included on Oracular. While its kind of cool to have a full band playing the song, its just sloppy and poorly mixed. I much prefer the version from Time to Pretend (just Andrew and Ben's version). I was really glad that at their show they had their backing band leave the stage an the two of them just turned the original song on and went crazy dancing and singing karaoke.

in other news, mgmt were just featured in a converse ad... http://beesboutique.blogspot.com/2008/07/mgmt-x-converse.html

interesting....?
