OTS. yay.

“Thou shalt not leave me, not leave me, never leave me”

She was standing in a yellow marigold-print skirt
And her feet tapped the world and shoes picked up the dirt
Her blue eyes looked straight down but she was alert
As the rain came by, and washed away her smile.

She ran after her mouth, said seventeen Hail Marys, and tried
To remembered why not to frown when her boyfriend was around, tried
To remember anything else than the sound of rain upon last september
But the clouds came closer to her head, She couldn’t shake off God.

She woke up in a rabid sweat and cried out like something:
“don’t leave me,” “thou shalt not leave me”
Or I’ll drink myself to death, or I’ll gargle down one last breath
That will be just an “I love you way too much”
But I sure do miss your Lancôme touch

She went to school that day and the lockers looked like ways
To take everyone’s guns and hide them, bury ‘em
Within the façade of middle schoolers math notes,
Little lover’s hot pink letters, As all the rain came by
She looked down through the earth, mother Mary daughter of God,
Looked down to her dead mother,
“Thou shalt not leave me, not leave me, never leave me”
““Thou shalt not leave me, not leave me, never leave me””
