I have been playing bass for a while now and have wanted to try some new styles of tuning. My problem is that when i try to change my E string to a D for Drop-D tuning, the string becomes loose and almost impossible to play. Is this common or is there a simple fix?

I use Ernie Ball Super Slinky usually.
Or Hybrid Slinky's if there is nothing left. I have my bass a half step down, but i've put it into drop D with both sets of strings and it's been very very comfortable.
I hope it doesn't seem, like I'm young, foolish, and green.
Let me in for a minute, you're not my life but I want you in it
