Currently I have a 1gb stick of ram and a 512 stick installed, yet my PC only recognises the 1gb stick. I'm running Windows XP and a few people have said that this is the reason for it only recognising one stick, as XP need to have two balanced slots. But could it be my motherboard? If so how do I find out what model my motherboard is?
Please help Pit!
Cheers

it is because they are unbalanced so it will not run the 2 channels

as for finding your motherboard type just search google for things like what type of ram do i have" and it should tell you in one of the links

Me "Have you ever bled out your arse-hole?"

Her: Facial expression was priceless - "What??! Noo!"

Me: "Well if you want to keep it that way, **** off."

She then turned away and whimpered.

So if I bought another gig stick, do you reckon it would work?

if you had 2 equal speed(i think), equal type(eg DDR2) and equal size sticks of ram then yes they would as dual channel, otherwise only one slot would be recognised.

I have one 512mb and one 256 mb ram sticks on one of my laptops and it works fine... I don't think thats the problem...

Maybe its cuz the have different mhz values...
