hi im new here so please dont crucify me if i post in the wrong thread.
I started playing guitar not long ago and i have a question which could sound silly to you but i dont get it. i have this tab.

------------------------------
------------------------------
-------------14-----13-----
------------------------------
-------------12-----11-----
--0-0-0-0-----0-0-----0-0

now how do i play the 5th and the 3rd string without playing the 4rth?

and if i suppose to mute the 4th string shouldnt the tab be like this?

------------------------------
------------------------------
-------------14-----13-----
--------------X------X-------
-------------12-----11-----
--0-0-0-0-----0-0-----0-0

can someone explain it to me please i dont get it.

yes ideally the tab could be like that, but all you do is use the first finger (on the 12th fret in the first chord) and just slightly bring it so that it points more towards you rather than the string). This should mute the D string.

u can go ahead and mute the 4th string, sometimes its not put in there. or else hybrid pick it. as ur holding the pick use another finger ur not using to hold the pick to fingerpick the 3rd string

When some people tab they leave out the muted strings, as it doesn't really make a huge difference. I would personally mute the 4th string as you've suggested, or you could fingerpick them instead of strum them, but this might be a little harder.

wow guys you are lightining fast thank you all.

this method "just slightly bring it so that it points more towards you rather than the string"
sounds good the other one with finger picking seems to be hard
or its maybe because im a noob
