Oh, I'm between Cinci and Dayton. I know a few people who live in Cleveland area. Practice fixes most things, I don't headbang but I've tried and suck at it too.

yep, but also try resting the guitar on your leg while you're playing so it's not touching your body. pointy guitars are good for doing this with (Warlock, ML, probably Vs).

I assume you can play without looking at the fretboard, becuase that is the first step to quality playing while headbanging.
start with bobbing your head mildly, then work up to extreme motions like hair spins, while doing it in rythym.

i can do it, but only for certain parts of songs
like i cant do it while soloing but most riffs i can headbang to as long as they arent too fast

I have a tip from experience.

DO NOT HEADBANG WHILE COVERING A LINKIN PARK SONG.

You'll look like an idiot...

when playing live, i find that its more important to put on a good show, and make sure people have a good time, then it is to play perfectly, thats what people buy albums for. also, most people dont know your songs by heart, and when you mess up, 99% of the time, people wont notice.

However, I AM NOT SAYING ITS OK TO MESS UP IN ORDER TO ROCK OUT.
all i am saying, is that for me, when i play live, if it came to putting on a good show with minor mistakes here and there, or playing perfecctly, i would put on a good show.

its all about balancing, when theres a part you have trouble on, chill out a bit. and when theres an easy part, go ahead and head bang/rock out.

hope this helps.

more advice.
do not cover a Linkin Park song. ( unless by covering, you mean one of their cd's with scrathes and or black sharpie)
same results as headbanging while playing one.

Having really long hair can make headbanging and playing more difficult, I have hair almost down to my waist and it takes a hell of a lot of movement to get it to move in any cool way.

Just start with nodding your head along to the music and slowly increase your movements until you've got what you want.

find something to do other than headbang. it just looks gay.

It's not gay once your hair moves like a windmill.

look at guitarrist that actually headbang while playin the guitar, eg: Mick Thomson, watch this vid and look at the legend, http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt3ynlJ6xxo&feature=related.

here are some tips from me:
1) spread your legs about a bit more than shoulder length
2) bend them
3) lean down on your guitar, but not to much, if you have REALLY long hair, it might get caught on the strings and youll get some horrible noise, dont really bother trying it. believe me.
4) make your strap not too long, but not too short at the same time.
5) hold the neck firmly, or else your hand will slip off.
6) headbang to something appropiate.
7) after you got the basics down, work your way up from just nodding, to super violent headbanging.
8) Songs you HAVE to headbang to:

1)Psychosocial by Slipknot
2)Before I Forget by Slipknot
3)Surfacing by Slipknot

I've always wanted to make a linkin park song into a ska/reggae song....

But on topic, everything that can be said pretty much has been said. Proper stance, know how to play without looking, and start slowly. It's a good idea to practice your stage moves at band practice too.

Linkin Park earned $5.2 million in 2012. What did you earn?
